“La Boule,” a solid wood sculpture, embodies the exhilarating idea of movement. This fascinating and perfect work of art represents the opposite of the stability and immobility of a cube. The Oak tree was known as the Tree of Zeus among the Greeks and of Jupiter among the Romans. It was particularly coveted by the military for making warships (Colbert’s forest). It is a very hard and blond wood with a beautiful grain, very resistant and durable.
Fine grain, veined appearance with warm colors and a natural scent of Provence.
A fervent protector of the Mistral wind in Provence, it symbolizes immortality for Plato and paradise for the Persians. It was used for making sarcophagi in Egypt. Its durable wood led to the belief that it protected the bodies for eternity, and its green flame connected Heaven and Earth.
